ABOUT / JESSICA HOLLIS
While I call the rural landscapes of East Devon home, my work in humanitarian and documentary photography has taken me far beyond. Through my lens, I strive to document human strength, dignity and the quiet stories that often go untold. Whether in the heart of a bustling city or the solitude of forgotten places, I seek to capture the depth and resilience of the human experience in every photograph.
My journey into photography began around five years ago, shaped by a childhood spent immersed in creativity. Homeschooled throughout my teenage years, I found inspiration in the craftsmanship around me - watching my father’s carpentry and working alongside a potter, where I learnt the values of patience and precision. These lessons continue to shape my approach to photography, guiding me to take the time to connect with each person I photograph, understand their story and reflect their true essence through my work.
I believe every individual carries a story worth telling. My imagery serves as a visual record of these narratives - capturing moments of vulnerability, curiosity and grace. My hope is that these photographs spark reflection, inspire empathy and remind us of our shared humanity.
